Lacey Turner was five when her father contracted AIDs from a transfusion. That rough childhood made her strong and self-sufficient, so butting heads with the guy her brother leaves in charge of the ranch while he serves with Doctors Without Borders is as inevitable as her attraction to the hot cowboy.
Jesse Briscoe’s word is his bond. Too bad he’s agreed to watch over his buddy’s ranch and hellcat sister while he’s away. The hellcat is as spoiled and self-serving as she is beautiful. But he’d witnessed firsthand what a woman like that can do to a man when his mother decided she no longer wanted to be a wife and mother and left when he was nine.
Worn down by a desire too strong to ignore, the two give in to their heated attraction, but will they give up control long enough to discover the truth behind their attitudes?

I liked this hero. He is the ultimate cowboy - with issues. She is the local gal with a big crush on him. She is also his best friend's sister and he has been asked to watch over her while he is in Africa. She is 26, runs an on-line business, works at the local creamery and lives with her mother on their family ranch, she is also an ex-rodeo rider. This is their story. She runs after him and he avoids her. Hot chemistry between the two but he won't act on it.SPOILER--this one just didn't do it for me. I thought the heroine was immature and acted like a young teen. I realize she is a victim and she has a big chip on her shoulder, however, it seems as thought the town has got over it all and has moved on so should she. She was just a bit over the top for acting like a teen. At 26 her brother is still telling her what to do?? Really??? Her dr. okays her activity but the brother says no and she follows his dictate??? Didn't get that. But, I didn't like her at all. I certainly don't want to discourage anyone from reading the story because I believe a lot have already given it 5 reviews. It just didn't appeal to me. I like a stronger heroine. It is certainly an interesting story and has a good plotline.
I was not paid for this review. I am not an author nor do I know one. I am not kin to this author. I am a reader and this is my opinion, nothing more, nothing less.

Her Indulgent Cowboy Harland County Series Book 7 edition by Donna Michaels Romance eBooks Reviews
I loved this book from beginning to end. I liked Lacy's fiestiness, and she sure knew how to drive this cowboy crazy. There were times I found myself laughing so hard at her antic's. And the big plus.....we get bits and pieces of the past characters we've all come to love, and where they are at in life now. I love this series and can't wait to read more.
I really enjoyed this book but for the end. I hate it when a character keeps repeating the same offence and gets off so Damon easy. Otherwise I thoroughly enjoyed and recommend this book. And I'll be watching for more from this author
Lacey grew up with a older brother who no clue all the picking on she went through everyday at school. Her dad got sick with AIDS from a blood transfusion and she lost all of her friends. Now they have all grown up and she has a new set. She injured her back barrel racing and after surgery & recuperating the one thing she wants to do is rude her horse. She has been cleared but the guy her brother asked to help his friend Jesse won't let her. He thinks she is spoiled. He doesn't and neither do there friend Tanner & her brother know what she went through growing up. They have a lot to get over.
Jace and Jesse are army buddies. Jace has to leave on duty and asks Jesse to keep on eye on his sister who has been recovering from an accident. Jace has no idea that Jesse wants to do more than watch over Lacey. Lacey has had a crush on Jesse most of her life but he drives her crazy. Always bossing her around and just being rude. After he catches her trying to ride her horse, something finally starts happening for them. I develop a relationship. Jesse has had a hard time his whole life trusting women due to the fact that his own mother ran out on him, While he is away on an army training exercise, Lacey runs his store. When he comes back, there were some changes made and he accuses her of trying to take over. He later finds out the truth. Is it too late? Will Lacey forgive him?
Lacey is every abuser's dream. She is treated like carp by both Jesse and her brother, but she takes it and asks for more. And the people in that town seem to cheer on that behavior.
Jesse, I hated him. He took his mommy issues a lot to far.
I'm appealing to all author's here, please stop writing your heroines in the horny teenage boy model. There is absolutely no personality anymore beyond 'he is so hot' ' his hard cock' 'my panties are wet' etc etc
Her Indulgent Cowboy is number 7 in the Harland County series, here we meet Lacey she is living on the family ranch wishing she could just get back on her horse Beckham. She was cleared a month ago from a back injury from a fall to get back to riding but even with her brother in Africa he is making sure she doesn't even try. Just when Lacey thinks she has a shot out of no where is Jesse. Jesse is her brothers best friend from childhood and he has agreed to watch the ranch and his sister why he is away. From the beginning you can feel the fireworks between Lacey and Jesse. Jesse refuses to let Lacey get under his skin, his mother walked out on him and his dad and he will not allow another woman in his life that is selfish and gets what she wants. Lacey who has grown up struggling with peers because her dad had AIDs refuses to let anyone shut her down, she is a woman who knows what she wants and will work to achieve it. With a little help from friends and family these two start to crack the shell that is keeping them from what they fear.
Donna Michaels has done a great job with capturing the reader. There is such emotion in this story, you have laughter , love and tears. I do not cry often when I read books but this story really gets to your heart and you can't help but feel for these characters. Another thing I like about this book is not only are we reading about two new main characters but we get bits and pieces of her past characters and where they are at in life.
I enjoyed this book very much. I particularly liked the way she brings back her characters. They all have such good relationships with each other and a they are all so giving. However, the language in this book ruined it for me. There was no need for it. If all her future books are going to continue in this way, I don't think I will be reading them.
