Keri Arthur has done it again! It never ceases to amaze me how much she can do with her words. With her hands she fashions these characters, living remarkable lives with supernatural elements who still seem relatable and humanly flawed. Her plots are out of this world and the one for the book is as usual incredibly unconventional and intricate. But she's never repetitive. If you've ever read a book by Keri Arthur and loved it, read everything she's written. Not only will you not be disappointed but you won't be bored or feel as if you're reading the same thing over and over. If you're a fan of the supernatural, every book Keri Arthur has written is a must have.

I've read and enjoyed all the Riley Jensen books and the previous Dark Angels novels, but sadly I'm disappointed in this one. All the lead character seemed interested in was revenge, sex and saving her own skin ("survive"). This wasn't the Risa I remembered from the first few novels, and the "noble purpose" that previously drove this (and drives most other engaging urban fantasy stories - I read a lot of these...) was missing. I also found the "living sword" element distracting and a bit forced, and the "blood whore snuff club" angle a bit hard to believe (isn't Hunter the head of the law enforcement agency Risa's mentors work for???). I found myself skimming through the latter part of the book hoping the story would snap back on track, but it didn't. I've seen other UF authors wander a bit before landing back in the groove (and one, unfortunately, that still hasn't...), and so I'm sure I'll be looking at the next Dark Angels novel coming in November...
Third book in the Dark Angels series, this one held as much tension as its predecessors. Arthur is one of my favorite paranormal romance authors because she knows how to write a bada*ss heroine. And she doesn't tease to the point of frustration. After the first two books, there were certain developments begging to happen. Some writers would tantalize and arouse without a satisfying follow through. But Arthur always delivers, which is why this series remains on my favorites list.
Truthfully I'd avoided buying the new series. Was so heartsick that Riley and Quinn, seemed no more.

But I adore Keri Arthur's characters and writing style, and missed it. I've bought ALL in this new series featuring Risa and each one leaves you drooling and anxious for more. Now. Please and thank you.

Risa and Azriel are who I'm voting for. The series is young, so who knows where Risa will head--but I'm still voting on Azriel.

Excellent, compelling and steamy!
Keri Arthur just grabs you with all her books. Did not think she could surpass the Riley Jensen series, but the Dark Angels books are living up to my expectations and more.. Darkness Devours continues the story line of Risa Jones trying to find out who killed her Psychic Mother as well as being demanded by the Vampire Council and the baddest Vampire of them all, Madeline Hunter to solve a mystery of what is Killing & EATING their high ranking Vampires in addition to trying to find the Keys her Aedh Father hid for her to find, that opens the Gateway between Earth and Hell. She is accompanied by her Aedh Lover Lucian, whose wings were torn off for disobeying his orders and her Sexy Reaper Azriel who in this book, get even closer than expected. The book is filled with new insights, intrigue, mystery and of course so many worlds of the paranormal it leaves you spell bound. Can't wait till the next book comes out in November, as Keri Arthur, you are one of my all time favorite authors..
The cover art (blond angels) has little to do with the books in this series (at least in the 1st four). I enjoy these books as kind of a palette cleanser - some reading of a different flavor - between my space operas. One thing I find annoying is that the main character never (or hardely ever) gets to eat and rest up - she'll be starving and down to her last erg (a small measure of energy), but will decide to have rampant sex all night instead of recovering. Her servile attitude with her vampire handler could use a little remix too. Ah well... it is still fun to read.
Risa Jones must face life without her mom but she's got two hot guys on her side, and a former boyfriend who she's using to help her. Everyone has secrets in this book and we don't find out the answers yet. You've got to read the rest of the series. In this book, we learn more bout Risa's strength in the face of horrible adversity as well as more about her magical sword. Risa will do what it takes to solve the murder of her mother, even risk her life. A must read gritty urban fantasy that fits in the Guardian Series by Keri Arthur.
This started off as a series with much potential, maybe too much. I have liked all three of the books so far and I am looking forward to the fourth, however, I do agree with some other postings that the overall plot has not moved forward by much. This could be because we need to understand all the side elements so I am reserving judgement or negative comments until I have seen more in the series. At this point all three books have held my interest and made me want more. All three in the series have introduced more elements to the time, area, and plot. All three have made me feel like the series has the potential to be one of my all time favorites. Keri Arthur is a writer I enjoy and she may make all this set up very worth my while. I am certainly entertained enough to give her the chance.
